“I’ve always been a huge fan of the Mustang, and when I had the chance to buy this 1967 GT500 back in the late 90s, I jumped on it,” he added. Repairing and maintaining this vehicle has been an emotional roller coaster, but it has been well worth it. Being behind the wheel of a vintage Shelby Mustang is like nothing else.

The timeless mix of Brittany Blue and white racing stripes is the finish of Simmons’ GT500. The 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet V8 engine, which is iconic for Ford, lies under the hood. Shelby had it tweaked to produce an astounding 355 horsepower. The car has been upgraded for performance and boasts Shelby’s signature fiberglass hood and rear spoiler.

 

Although mint 1967 GT500s can command a pretty penny at collector car auctions, Simmons insists he has no intention of parting with his beloved vehicle. I consider it a privilege to be the custodian of this vehicle, which has a place in automotive history. Sharing it with other Mustang fans in the Barrie region is a blast since it’s unlike anything else out there.
