Though Veiga maintains there is no reason to panic, a draw with Wrexham and a loss by Celtic mean Maresca still await his first victory as Chelsea manager.

‘You want to win every football game,’ he remarked. ‘Chelsea particularly has to win every game. But right now we are in pre-season.The procedure and the link among each other are very crucial. When the moment comes—to host the first Premier League game against Manchester City—on August 18—that is when it counts and when we must definitely win.

Veiga asked why he moved for Chelsea from Basel for £12million: ‘How can you say no to Chelsea?Among English clubs, these are the largest ones. Their project is somewhat ambitious for the present as well as for the future.

The moment is right now the most crucial thing, thus I am very glad to be here.”Regarding if he expects to be loaned out, he said: “I signed for Chelsea, and I am quite glad to be here and daily enjoying it.
