Stephen Curry relishing “rekindling old flames” on Team USA with Kevin Durant

The many NBA fans who have long yearned to see Stephen Curry pair up with LeBron James are getting a somewhat altered version — one with considerably more superstar power.

Starting its quest of the gold medal in the Paris 2024 Olympics with an outstanding 110-84 triumph over Serbia on Sunday, Team USA Curry and James both started the game, and the long-time Golden State Warrior also teamed up with Kevin Durant, his former buddy who started the Americans with a tremendous first half.

Curry talked about his reunion with his former teammate and playing with James during the Team USA victory, in which Durant returned from a calf injury to knock down his first eight shot attempts. Declaring he’s “having the time of my life,” the 36-year-old enthused about the opportunity.

From Eurohoops.net, Via Aris Barkas:

“That’s the beauty of this experience,” Curry remarked. “Rekindling certain ancient flames using KD. Playing with guys I have never met before—including LeBron James and Anthony Davis as well as the rest of our team. I am living my life and savoring every moment of it.

Except for an up-and-down first quarter against Serbia, American supporters would most certainly reflect the attitude about “enjoying every minute of it,” citing the team’s initial victory. But Durant starting Team USA off the bench with 23 points, James pouring in 21 points with nine assists and seven rebounds and Curry’s 11 points on three triples helped the United States quickly establish their Olympic stride.
