Buddy Hield says he “always wanted to play for the Warriors.”

After ending with an NBA-best 73-9 record, the Golden State Warriors selected Buddy Hield with the 30th and last first-round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He thus knew that he would be playing somewhere else than the Bay Area when he entered the draft.

That didn’t stop him from fantasizing of mixing his prolific three-point shooting skills with what was, at the time, the most modern and three-point centric offense in NBA history, led by the best three-point shooter in NBA history… and very arguably the second-greatest too.

With almost 2,000 threes in his career, Hield is now a seasoned veteran already ranking 22nd all-time in league history. Hield can also at last confess that he has long yearned to play for the Dubs, even as he gets ready for his sixth NBA team following a sign-and-trade with the Warriors.

Hield joined other members of the organization at San Francisco State for a Warriors camp in his first act as a Warrior, shooting hoops with children and assisting them with drills. Hield stated he was “ecstatic” upon learning he may join the Warriors during an on-camera interview summarizing the event.

“I’d just known for years that the Warriors was a team I’d always wanted to play for,” Hield said. They always move the ball in championship-caliber form. And just to learn from players like Steph, Draymond, Steve, and Andrew, because I respect the way they approach the game and I just want to be a part of that and experience life on this side.Hield also complimented the Warriors for changing the game and for creating a culture based on fun and winning. He seems really thrilled to be on route to San Francisco. The on-court fit should be just as excellent as the attitude here’s hoping.
